Data Viz of the Week: Diversity of Race/Ethnicity in US

The layer below displays information about population racial and ethnic diversity using the Diversity Index. Index values were calculated by CARES using a variant of the methodology reported by ESRI. Based on this methodology, the Diversity Index represents “the likelihood that two persons, chosen at random from the same area, belong to different race or ethnic groups.” Index values range from 0 to 100, where 0 indicates no diversity.
