The layer below displays information about population racial and ethnic diversity using the Diversity Index. Index values were calculated by CARES using a variant of the methodology reported by ESRI. Based on this methodology, the Diversity Index represents “the likelihood that two persons, chosen at random from the same area, belong to different race or ethnic groups.” Index values range from 0 to 100, where 0 indicates no diversity.
Adding Predominant Race/Ethnicity to the diversity layer and setting the geography at block level lets us see details about the racial and ethnic make up. Click on the map below to zoom to your own community.
