Staff Editor: Serin Bond-Yancey
Serin Bond-Yancey (they/she) is a Disabled, queer, nonbinary, multiply-neurodivergent, antiracist accomplice, and an equity-focused public health professional. They are the Senior Communications and Design Consultant at IP3, and a Staff Editor for Community Commons.
Serin has been a Staff Editor for Community Commons since 2021, sharing their expertise in accessibility, equity, diversity, and inclusion (AEDI). Serin is most passionate about diversifying the voices on Community Commons, growing the CC Contributors network, and advancing the Priority Populations and AEDI frameworks across Community Commons and CC Spaces.
Serin brings over 18 years experience consulting with nonprofits and small businesses on AEDI, organizational development, audience experience and engagement, and strategic impact. They hold a Bachelors in community-based health and development from The Evergreen State College, where their studies included exploring the relationship between culture, equity, and well-being through field work in Aotearoa New Zealand, Taiwan, and the pacific northwest. Currently, they are pursuing a dual Masters of Public Health and Masters of Social Work at the University of Washington, and share their time between senior consultant roles at the Institute of People, Place and Possibility (IP3; steward of Community Commons) and the Transgender Health and Wellness Center of Washington.
Serin resides in the rural outskirts of Olympia, Washington, with their partner, kiddo, parent, found family, and 80+ farm animals. When they aren’t lost in a myriad of plans and spreadsheets, they can be found writing fiction, talking (too much) about cats and poodles, spending time with friends and family, and building queer/Disabled community.
