Global health has evolved from colonial and tropical medicine, which were designed to control colonized populations and facilitate their exploitation by European and North American powers. The authors first acknowledge that people who have likely benefited from current systems may oppose decolonizing global health, before proposing steps that global health practitioners could take to drive reforms.
