Neenah-Menasha Sewerage Commission Biosolids Storage Facility

The purpose of this rapid Health Impact Assessment (HIA) was to discuss the negative and positive health impacts of a biosolids storage facility being proposed in the Town of Greenville, and to identify ways to decrease any adverse health impacts of the proposed biosolids storage facility.
The Greenville community expressed concern about the health risks from toxic chemicals and increased truck traffic, as well as the environmental risk of groundwater contamination, unfavorable aesthetics, odor, and increased truck traffic. The HIA recommended that the Neenah-Menasha Sewerage Commission monitor and respond to resident complaints to foster an open and informative dialogue. Outagamie County Public Health will coordinate monitoring of biosolids-related health complaints, should the project move forward.
Outagamie County Public Health Division has no regulatory authority for biosolids production, transport, storage or use. Outagamie County Public Health Division’s sole interest in this project was to review potential health concerns and propose methods to reduce those risks.
