Commute by Active Transportation

Workers Active Transportation reports the percentage of workers aged 16 years and older who did not work at home and who traveled to work via walking, bicycle, public transportation, taxi, or motorcycle. These transportation modes necessitate physical activity and are known as “active transportation.” This indicator is a measure of transportation mode share and represents commuters that are engaging in active modes of transportation. Active transportation can promote active lifestyles and reduce emissions associated with person vehicle use; this indicator is also a proxy measure of community design.
