The federal minimum wage is $7.25. However, some employees, like restaurant workers, make less than minimum wage. This is because they get tips from customers. The tipped minimum wage is only $2.13. The tipped minimum wage has not increased since 1991. Eliminating tipped wage would make sure that restaurant workers do not need to rely on tips to make at least minimum wage.
