People with felony drug offenses can never receive certain government benefits, like food assistance. This ban especially harms women and people of color. These groups are convicted for drug crimes at higher rates than others. People with a criminal record often struggle to find a job. Because of this ban, they have limited options to support themselves and their family while they seek work.
